ESOL TEACHER

We are hiring! Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum is excited to recruit for a new part time post of ESOL Teacher.

Do you want to work with refugees and asylum seekers, helping them learn and navigate English? Do you have experience of teaching ESOL, and have a TESOL qualification at level 5 or above? Are you able to manage a small team of volunteers, and confidently monitor the ESOL classes, as well as develop resources? Then we would love to hear from you!

Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum is a vibrant local charity, working with and for asylum seekers and refugees in the area. With around 50 staff and over 100 volunteers we operate a busy centre in Nottingham, providing advice, advocacy and practical support. We also run a number of social and educational activities, including a youth club, women’s group, ESOL classes and an employability service. Our community café and garden provide a welcoming and relaxing space for all.

We are looking for an experienced ESOL teacher to be responsible for development and provision of ESOL tuition by the Refugee Forum for refugees and asylum seekers. This will include a personal teaching load, supervision and support of a small team of volunteer tutors and the development of a bank of teaching resources. You will be delivering group teaching sessions as well as supporting ESOL volunteers to deliver a fantastic package of ESOL lessons to refugees and asylum seekers. You will be developing resources, and monitoring and reporting on the success of this important project.

You will need to have a minimum of one years’ teaching experience teaching ESOL, and experience of managing volunteers. Please see the job description and person specification for further information.

  • Hours:  Part time, 22.5 hours per week
  • Salary: £25,674.00 per annum pro rata
  • Term: 6 months fixed contract (with possible extension, if funding allows)
