YOUTH PROJECT WORKER

Salary: £22,000 per annum (pro rata)

Hours:  11 hours per week (Tuesdays 4.30pm – 8.30pm essential)

Term Funded by Children in Need until May 2021

Nottingham & Notts Refugee Forum is a vibrant local charity, working with and for asylum seekers and refugees. We operate a busy Centre in Nottingham, providing advice, advocacy, practical support, and social and educational activities. Due to staffing and funding changes, a new role has arisen within the youth team.

Duties will include:

The main duty of this role will be to plan, co-ordinate, deliver and monitor the weekly youth group which meets every Tuesday evening at Mansfield Road Baptist Church for refugee and asylum seeking young people.  The role will include the recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers to support the running of the group. It requires significant partnership work and relationship building which will be essential to the wellbeing of the young people. It will also include planning a varied and interesting programme of events, and liaising with outside providers to deliver talks and workshops of interest to the young people.

Essential Requirements:

* Experience of working with young people, preferably young refugees/asylum seeking young people or other vulnerable youth groups;

* Experience in planning and organising projects, preferably designed for young people;

* Experience of working in the charity sector with limited resources
